Bridges
This week we've been exploring the special considerations builders need to take into account when creating structures in Wellinnton. Our inquiry task is to build a bridge that is strong enough to hold a specific weight and withstand some of Wellington's unique natural forces: Wild weather and earthquakes!

Wellington's Weather & Renewable Power
Yesterday in Kake, we explored Wellington's unique weather and how it changes throughout the year. We discovered that Wellington has a lot of wind, fast moving tides and a surprising amount of sunlight hours. We then set to work, designing inventions that harness this natural energy to generate renewable electricity. Check out some of our work...

Seeds from space!
Yesterday we were visited by an astronaut and a real scientist. They delivered some seeds that have been to space and exposed to the harsh UV rays. We will be planting these as well as seeds from the same batch that haven't been to space as a control so we can monitor any differences.

Our trip to Carter Observatory
Our whole pod experienced space in a fun, hands-on trip to Carter observatory this week! We explored the solar system and its patterns as well as discussing the possibility of life existing elsewhere in space. If you haven't been to Carter observatory since they refurbished it, we'd thoroughly recommend the trip!
